This question goes through every senior and their parent’s minds… “When do I do senior pictures?” or “When is it too late to take senior pictures?” Don’t worry, I’m your local AZ senior photographer who’s got all the answers for you right here.

Before I answer your question, I need to ask you a few first. Consider the following questions…

What kind of location do I want for my senior photos?

Snow, flowers, wheat fields, and green grass are all at different times of the year. Think about what kind of location you want, and reach out to your photographer now to see what time of year they think is best for your desired location. If you don’t care about a specific location, continue to the next question.

What kind of outfits are you hoping to wear?

This question is very similar to the first, depending on if you want to wear pants, a short dress, or sandals all depends on the weather and the time of year.

What due dates do you have regarding senior photos?

Some schools require students to submit a yearbook photo half way through the school year. If this is the case, you would want to schedule your photos in the fall or early winter.

Are you planning on sending out grad cards?

Sending out grad cards is such a fun tradition and can leave you with some extra gifts! If you choose to send out announcements, make sure to give yourself at least a month before you plan on sending them out. My photo return time is 2 weeks, but photographers can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks to deliver photos. This way, you have time to receive your photos, put together your cards (or order them from your photographer), and have them printed.

These questions should give you a good idea of when you should book your session. I recommend reaching out to your photographer sooner than later to ask what they think! Every photographer has their own locations and they know what times of year will be best for your photos!
